Best Auth & security resources for vibe coders

Updated 23/10/2026

This guide is for vibe coders who let an AI agent write and run code, and who want to keep keys, files and projects safe. Note that these resources do not build login screens for you. They protect your agent, your machine and your code.

They can stop an agent from running a destructive command, scan a skill before you install it, and help Claude review code for known vulnerabilities. We left out the heavy offensive and penetration-testing tools, since they suit experts and need authorized targets.

  1. PluginCaution

    cc-safety-net

    kenryu42

CC Safety Net is a pre-execution guard that blocks destructive Git and file system commands, and prevents access to sensitive files for AI coding agents.

    1.6kMIT

#1 · Why we picked it

Highest quality score (98) and beginner level; it blocks commands like rm -rf and protects your .env and SSH keys, though its safety label is caution, so read the setup first.
  2. Cursor ruleSafe

    artguard

    spiffy-oss

This CLI scans AI agent skills, MCP server configs, and IDE rule files to detect security threats, privacy violations, and instruction-level attacks.

    32MIT

#2 · Why we picked it

A safe, beginner-level CLI that scans skills, MCP configs and .cursorrules files for hidden instructions and privacy problems before you install them.
  3. PluginSafe

    skills

    trailofbits

A Claude Code plugin marketplace from Trail of Bits, offering skills to enhance AI-assisted security analysis, vulnerability detection, and audit workflows.

    7.5kCC-BY-SA-4.0

#3 · Why we picked it

  4. AgentSafe

    ai-bwrap

    didvc

This tool runs AI coding agents like Claude Code inside a bubblewrap sandbox, limiting their access to only the current working directory for enhanced security.

    18MIT

#4 · Why we picked it

Safe label; it runs Claude Code in a bubblewrap sandbox so the agent can only touch the current project folder.
  5. SkillCaution

    SkillSpector

    NVIDIA

SkillSpector is a security scanner for AI agent skills, detecting vulnerabilities, malicious patterns, and prompt injection risks before installation.

    21kApache-2.0

#5 · Why we picked it

A popular scanner (21,000 stars) that checks skills for malicious patterns and prompt injection before install; the label is caution, so review what it does.
  6. MCP serverSafe

    cve-mcp-server

    mukul975

This production-grade MCP server gives Claude 27 security intelligence tools across 21 APIs for CVE lookup, EPSS scoring, CISA KEV, and more, enabling rapid security analysis.

    1.6kApache-2.0

#6 · Why we picked it

Safe MCP server that lets Claude look up CVEs and score risk from several sources; it connects to many outside APIs, so expect some setup and possible API keys.
  7. PluginCaution

    sage

    gendigitalinc

This plugin acts as a security layer for AI agents, intercepting tool calls like shell commands, file writes, and web requests to protect against dangerous actions.

    310Apache-2.0

#7 · Why we picked it

Intercepts shell commands, file writes and web requests, and blocks malware or phishing URLs; the label is caution and it is intermediate level.
  8. PluginSafe

    Claude-Skills-Governance-Risk-and-Compliance

    Sushegaad

Provides expert-level Claude Skills for Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC), offering guidance across numerous industry standards and regulations.

    938MIT

#8 · Why we picked it

Safe label; helps Claude check a feature against GDPR, ISO 27001 or NIST guidance when you handle user data.

How to choose

  • Start with a guard that limits what your agent can do, such as cc-safety-net or ai-bwrap, before adding anything else.
  • Scan every new skill or MCP config with a scanner like artguard or SkillSpector before you install it.
  • Check the safety label. Caution means the tool needs broad access, so read the setup and permissions first.
  • Skip advanced offensive tools unless you own the target and have permission to test it.

FAQ

Do these tools build login or sign-in for my app?

No. They protect your agent and code, and help find vulnerabilities. For the login flow itself, use a trusted auth provider and ask your agent to follow its docs.

Which one should I install first?

cc-safety-net is a good first step because it blocks destructive commands and protects secret files. Add artguard to check new skills.

Why do some tools have a caution label?

Guards and scanners often need to read commands or files to do their job. That is broad access, so read what they do before you install.

Do I need API keys?

Some do. cve-mcp-server uses many outside APIs, so some services may need keys. Check each project's setup notes first.
